A friend and I (both UK citizens, flying from Indonesia) are planning on travelling and working in Australia for about 4 months and are trying to decipher the entry requirement costs.
So I've read there's a flat fee of around 500 AUD and you need savings of 5000 AUD. Apparently the savings requirement can vary but I can't find any information on what this depends on, eg. length of stay, type of work expected, etc.
Also, when are the checks for your savings made? Our savings will likely change in the time between applying and travelling to Oz. And what's stopping us borrow the money from someone for the purpose of the checks and then paying them back as soon as we're in Australia?
