We are a family of 4 (me+wife+2 kids) living in USA last 9 years and plan to go back to India in 2015. Our older kid was born in India and younger one in USA. Myself, my wife and our older kid have Indian passports and GC, our younger kid has US passport with PIO card. We are eligible to apply for US citizenship now. Even if we want to go back to India, we want to make sure our older daughter becomes a US citizen. Question we are debating is whether (i) both me and my wife should apply for US citizenship OR (ii) only I should apply for US citizenship have Indian citizenship retained for my wife.
Are there any benefits to do (ii)? We will consider it only if it helps kids education / admission etc or in any other manner in India. Any pointers?
