I am a UK citizen wanting to apply for a visa to the US. (I'd like to stay 4 or 5 months if possible).
My problem is that I have been arrested, which you are supposed to declare. It was for being involved in a direct action protest, and the offence named was relatively serious, though I was not charged, and the police dropped the whole thing within a few weeks.
Any idea what my chances are of getting a visa if I declare this? It seems minor, but I'm worried they may just refuse it on the grounds that they don't like activists - especially as the arrest was less than a year ago.
And how much access do they have to UK police records?
Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
