I'm a Swedish citizen interested in applying for EB3. I currently live in Japan if that has any relevance.
Assuming I fulfill the requirements and an employer is willing to sponsor me, and I apply today:
1. How long will it take for me to get the visa? I don't really understand how to interpret the info here http://www.immihelp.com/visa-bulletin-movement/
In the case that I would have to wait for several months or years to get the EB3:
2. I don't see why an employer would sponsor anyone when it may be several months or years before the person gets the visa and can start working?
3. So it seems getting an H1B meanwhile is the norm? (Possibly upgrading the EB3 application to an EB2 application after a while if applicable)
4. In the case that the green card is granted, it seems like (unlike the H1B) you are no longer bound to any given employer, not even the one that sponsored you, and you don't really even have to work for the employer who sponsored you?
