I'm a Brazilian working in Michigan on a L1A visa since 2012 provided by my employer. I already renew it 3 times as Brazilian have to renew it every 2 years.
I would like to apply for a green card, but my company doesn't want to sponsor it because if I get a green card I will be allow to change company if I want and on a L1A i can't change employers. So that is the way that my employer can make sure I will not leave the company.
I'm in a rough situation because most of the jobs for my position are more common in USA and I would like to have more freedom to choose my employers. My current company will sent me to Europe for a period of time because my maximum number of years in USA under L1A is getting closer. Then bring me back after 1 or 2 years. I don't want to be sent around like this.
I would like to know if can apply for a green card in some other way or what are my alternatives.
