  • Processing times for I-485

I'm trying to figure when I can expect my interview and the green card.

    Processing Center: Nebraska

    Field Office: San Jose

    May 3, 2018: Filed I-140 and I-485 jointly (EB3, priority date current)

    June 14, 2018: Biometrics

August 9, 2018: RFE for documentation of salary

    October 20, 2018: Case transferred

I know this is not ideal but the most realistic answer is relative to the processing times on the https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/
San Jose Office is showing a time of 9.5 months to 19 months. So between February 2019 and December 2019
      EB2 - National Benefits Center (I-485/I-765/I-131)
      - Priority Date: 10/19/2018
      - Biometrics NOA: 11/09/2018
      - Biometrics Appt: 11/26/2018
      - Fingerprint Review Completed: 11/28/2018 and again on 12/05/2018
      - Combo card (I-765/I-131) approved: 05/03/2019
      - Combo card (I-765/I-131) received: 05/10/2019
      - Interview Notice: 10/03/2019
      - Case Approved: 10/04/2019
      - Card in hand: 10/10/2019
(374 days of DOL/I-140 and 356 days of AOS = 730 days of Green Card Process)

"So between February 2019 and December 2019" << I have to say this is not 100% true, as they are changing the processing times on the fly, you could think that is the time frame for today, tomorrow is going to be a different one, next month, next week, next year, etc. So bottom line is there is no real insight, just some insight but not a real one.

You are correct but I think directionally and given the current dates where we stand this time frame should be fine.

Remember the methodology for calculating this time frame is as follows: The first number is the time it takes to complete 50% of cases (the median). The second number is the time it takes to complete 93% of cases. So even if the time frame changes, you can get approved even before that time frame (~50% of the the cases).

Of course taking into account the upward trend this could move up, but given that we are already in March and the time frame is still similar (and remember the data is based on completed cases to date) this should be alright. The processing time is already pretty wide... it's not like we are predicting this to be approved tomorrow or the day after...
