  • Promotion in job

I have my I-140 approved with a job title of Manager. I recently got promoted as Sr. Manager, with more or less same responsibilities, but on a larger scale. I am in my 6th year of H1B. I will need to file for my H1B extension soon because of retrogression.

    Please answer the questions below:

    1. Will my H1 extension be filed as Sr. Manager or Manager? If it is filed as Sr. Manager, will that be a problem, given that my LC & I-140 is for Manager?

    2. When I file for my 485 and subsequent GC interview, will my current title in the company create a problem?

    Thanks for your help.

    1. You need to ask your employer in what position they will file your H1 extension.
I don't think it would matter whether you are Sr. Manager or Manager.

    2. I don't think so.

      Just to clarify #2.

Are you saying that it is okay for me to have a Sr. Manager title at the time when I go for GC interview, even though the Labor, I-140 etc. is for a Manager position?

If the answer is "yes, it is okay", then why do people say that one can't get a promotion during the entire GC process?

      Thanks for your help.
