  • Travelling to India without I-485 reciept

    Hello Friends,

My I-485 application was recieved by USCIS on July 13th. I still haven't recieved reciept from USCIS though I have FedEx reciept that my application was delivered.

I have travel plans for abroad on August 10th. Is it legally okai to travel without getting I-485 reciept? Can USCIS consider my case as abandoned?

    Need help with your suggestions.

    Thanks.......

If you have a valid H1b/L1 stamp in your passport, there should not be any problems. If your visa stamp in your passport has expired, you need to attend an interview at the consulate in India to get it stamped.

You should note leave US without I-485 receipt note

As far as I know, you should not leave US without getting the I-485 receipt notice. The I-94 is important here, it becomes invalid the moment you leave US. Please consult your lawyer.
