Surrendering Green Card - Please reply

Hello Friends,

Right now I hold green card from USA. I am on re-entry permit and the permit expires by end of 2008. At present I am in India and I would like to continue to live in India itself. I have 2 questions,

1) Is there a possibility of extending my re-entry permit without going to USA before re-entry permit expires,
2) If not, I have heard that I can surrender my green card and obtain VISA for 10 years. Whats the procedure I have to follow to surrender GC and obtain 10 years VISA to US.

Please help me in this regard asap.

2) Go to your local US embassy or consulate and tell them you want to surrender the GC. Check with them for the procedures to apply for a B2 visa.
