Can we financially Sponsor our Own GreenCard, if so what are the disadvantages?

Had a discussion with my boss today,

He said, the company wants me to stay and to have me is very beneficiary to them, but he said

** the company cannot fund for my GreenCard due to financial situation.
** they will provide all the paper work for green card.
** if anything goes wrong, they will also apply my H1B extension.

my questions are:

What should i do now?
Can i sponsor for my own GreenCard, how much will it be a total?
Are there any risks doing it myself?

Company has to pay for the labor stage as per the law. You can shell out the rest on your own.
