My husband works for a large company and has an opportunity to relocate to the the US with an L1 visa. In addition he received an offer from a second large company in the US and they are willing to sponsor him with H1B visa. Both positions are for Principal Firmware Engineer while he is holding a BS degree in Medicine and has over 10 years experience in software/hardware design. The second company told him that they can sponsor him for H1B but he will not be able to get a green card because he doesn't have an engineering degree.
1. Is it true that he must have an engineering degree in order to go from H1B to green card based on this employment?
2. Is it also true for going from L1 to green card (i.e. does he need an engineering degree)?
3. Can he qualify for a green card under EB-3? How long can it take in CA?
