  • Reckless driving ticket....Green card in process

    Hello everyone,

I got a reckless driving ticket in Virginia. I was going 84mph on 70mph limited speed. The cop issued court summon with the option to pay fine, there is no need to attend court. I paid off the fine and signed the court summon which states plead guilty. Just want to know if this would affect my green card process.

    Thanks

This is a really old post, but future people probably have this same question...

I really wish you hadn't pled guilty to reckless driving. That is a misdemeanor conviction, which will be part of your criminal record forever.

To learn about how it affects your green card process, you should definitely talk with an immigration lawyer. I don't think it will hurt your green card situation, but I focus on traffic defense, not immigration.

If you are interested in learning more about reckless driving defenses I've written a fairly comprehensive guide here: http://www.fightvirginiarecklessdriving.com/defenses/
