I am exactly in the same situation. I was laid off on Jan 15th but have not found a job yet.... H1-B 6 year period expires in August, labor has been approved (priority date May 12th 2007) and I140 was applied in November 2008...

Urgent : H1-B advise needed
Currently I am working on a H1-B visa for company X. I have an approved labor and my I-140 is pending approval.
Due to the economic situation I was laid off. My H1-B is valid till end of Aug-09.
My question is :
Are there any consulting company that would transfer my H1-B, file new labor and I-140. So that I extend my stay in USA without going back to India.
