  • Travel to US after IR5 visa stamping

We recently got a fresh IR5 visa interview done. Awaiting our passports. With the current travel restrictions, has any one with recent IR5 stamping traveled to the USA? Any additional/supporting documentation needed for the airlines? The President Proclamation 10199 does not say anything about IR5 category but NIE says immigrants of all categories are not subjected to the ban.

Any recent experiences will be helpful to make our travel plans. Thank you!

If you go to any airline site like Emirates, they have all info with latest updates, about travel restrictions and ticketing requirements.

None of the airlines say anything about IR5 visa category. They call out Kvisas,IR1,IR4 as exempted from the ban.

Immigrant visa holders have been excepted from the bans for being present in Mainland China, Iran, the Schengen Area, Brazil, and South Africa since April 8. The ban for being present in India only applies to nonimmigrants, not immigrants. All the exceptions for the other countries also apply to India.

This is my personal opinion and is not to be construed as legal advice.

We traveled last week to Chicago via DEL on AI flight. We carried the web contents of the page listed in the above message. They did question us at the counter but when we showed the printouts they gave us the boarding passes. Thank you!
