You need to keep until you can have OCI card updated with new passport #. Each time you get a new passport, OCI documents need to be re-issued.

If the OCI registration certificate is issued for the first time after the age of 50 years, then there is no need for re-issuance of OCI with each passport renewal as per the article below. It is always good idea to carry the passport that OCI is issued upon just to avoid any surprises at immigration counter in India.
