  • little smudging (due to the lamination on the print) on the bottom machine readable

I got a renewed passport from Washington DC Indian Embassy. Everything looks good except a little smudging (due to the lamination on the print) on the bottom machine readable code on the first page. I am supposed to travel to India this Month End for vacation following week I will be going for Visa Stamping in India. Will this smudge create any issues. (There is NO problem in any other fields).

Do i need to ask for a passport reprint? .

I did not find any link where i do register this kind of problem.

    Please help/suggestions.

    Hi Varun,

I also have the same issue with my new passport from the San Francisco Consulate. Did you get a passport reprint done ?

    Thanks,
    Bill

bill010182 - sorry to hear about that issue. Has it cause you any trouble yet? My "Place of birth" and "Place of issue" fields are smudged (Atlanta consulate). Wondering if I should waste money to get a new passport of if these issues are small and would be fine in the long run.
