    Indian passport renewal from the US - expired greencard ok?

    I'm helping my father renew his Indian passport, which has expired. From looking at the CKGS site, it seems his US greencard (permanent resident card) will be one of the documents required. His greencard expired a few months ago. Will CKGS/Indian consulate refuse this application without an unexpired greencard?

    Is there an acceptable substitute document?

    As a side note, does anyone know how long permanent resident card (no conditions) renewals typically take?

    He can submit expired green card.

    However, it is possible that they don't understand it fully and ask for a renewed green card.

      Unfortunately, CGI NY rejected this and insists on a renewed greencard.
