I am an Indian Citizen married to an American Citizen. I applied to the San Francisco Consulate for a PIO card for my husband so he can live in India. My application included:
1. Completed PIO Card Application (Original) with photo
2. Completed PIO Card Application (Duplicate) with photo
3. Two additional Photos
4. Money Order for $325 ($310 PIO Fee + $15 Mail back charges)
5. Notarized Photo Copy of my husband's US Passport
6. Notarized Photo Copy of my Indian Passport
8. Notarized Photo Copy of my Indian Passport with address page
9. Copy of our US Marriage Certificate
10. Copy of our apartment lease in the US
11. Copies of Utility bills to show our US address
The Consulate returned our application to us with letter on which they scribbled 'marriage certificate' and '1 yr letter'. This doesn't seem to make sense to me as I had sent in our marriage certificate. And what is this 1 year letter they are talking about?
I've tried calling the consulate but obviously it would be too much to actually expect someone to answer the phones or give us any help.
Has anybody else had this problem? Any advice or suggestions?? Please help!!
