I am a Indian citizen residing in Us on an F1 Visa. My passport gets expired in Noveber 2008 and I need to renew it. I have plans to go to india in this december (2007) and return to US in january 2008. Should i renew my passport before my Journey to India or after it .I will be grateful if you advise me what to do

indian passport renewal
I recommend renewing your indian passport here. All you get is frustration there. My experience is as below:-
My wife recently left for india and have just realized that her passport is about to expire and is finding it difficult to renew there as they are asking for a proof of stay in india for last year i.e., bank statement etc which she has not. Also here you have hope that things will happen in the time they say will happen and procedure is clearly stated. If you know of any special procedure for renewal of indian passport in india for NRIs please let me know that will help us a lot.
