Travel to India is about 2 weeks, PIO options?

Hi all,
I will be traveling to India with our US born daughter on 22nd feb. I have not yet applied for her PIO. I am in Houston and believe that it requires 2 or more week to get the PIO card. What are my options? Shall I apply for a visitor's visa for my daughter? or shall I try my luck getting the PIO card for her? Does it help expedite the process if I go in person? What is the process to get visitors visa? We will be staying for around 5 weeks.

PIO - Maybe, unlikely. Visa - Best

No guarantees on the PIO card, you may apply immediately and then call up or go to CGI and plead. Maybe you might get the card, depending on how nicely you request and how pleasant is the person on the other side of the window.

Best would be to get a six month visa, which is almost immediate. You can get it the same day.
