PIO card Ohio

HI,
I need to apply for my sons PIO card, and i am residing at Ohio.
Can you please let me know whether i need to send my wife's passport and my passport to indian embassy or just a photcopy of the passport signed by the notarary public will do.

"When sending by mail, only notarized copies of the documents that are required to be submitted with the application may be enclosed. Please do not send original documents unless it is required by us and we have specifically asked for it after the submission of the application. (emphasis added)"


Of course, on this page they say to include original passports as well as copies...

With the conflicting doc requirements I'd go with sending notarized copies first (I'm very paranoid about my passport not being under my control...), then following up with originals if requested, but that's your call. I didn't send originals when I applied for mine in Houston in November:

Bottom line is that there doesn't seem to be much uniformity between the consulates, so unless you're submitting the application in person there's some guesswork involved. Good luck.
