Hi,

I hold a South African passport with an Indian business visa and am currently in India. My visa is about to expire but my OCI card is also coming through. My parents will be couriering me the card along with the booklet as soon as it arrives. My question is, is that fine? Or is it mandatory for the OCI card to be stamped on arrival in India. Also what are the legalities concerning me overstaying my visa while waiting for the OCI to come through?

Arrival stamping is only in the passport, and not in the OCI.

However, what you are proposing is not possible because the booklet can't be used for travel. That is only for other benefits that you can get at par with NRI.

Travel in and out of India is done with the U-Visa sticker that is affixed in the passport. And if you are in India, your passport is in India. How can the Indian consulate in South Africa put visa sticker in your passport?
