Hello,
I read the other name change threads on this forum but my case is slightly different in that I don't have a court order for the name change. My name on Indian passport has my maiden name while my US passport has my married name, i.e., my husband's last name (first name is same in both). However, I don't have a court order to change the name. After I got naturalized (with my maiden name), I applied for US passport and asked them to use my married name (using my married certificate issued in India as proof).
In order to apply for OCI, do I need to get a court order now (reflecting the name change) or if I just put ads in newspapers (in US and India), that should be sufficient?
many thanks
