My Indian passport is valid till mid of May 2020 and I got laid off from my current employer on Feb end. I do have other job in hand and they are filing for my visa transfer. However since my passport is just valid for 3 months, I might get an RFE. Can I file for passport renewal (my old passport was issues from NY)? Can I use the I-797 from my current employer (which I am no longer employee). Or do I need to wait for the new I-797 from new employer and then file for passport renewal? This might get complicated if I get an RFE so am a but confused. Anyone who can help or had similar experience?
