OCI passport update - part b form question

Hi, my son is 10 year old and got new reissued AU passport. He has OCI card and I am uploading his new passport under OCI miscellaneous online.

In part b , there is a question, " have you surrendered/got cancelled your previous Overceas citizenship of India card? If yes, provide card number and issue date.

He has OCI card since birth and when he turned 5, his OCI was renewed due to new AU passport and they issued new OCI card which is current OCI and old OCI canceled.

should I say yes to this question and put his Oci card number which was issued at the time of birth.

Should I consider his first OCI card as previous card and select yes.. or is this question different??

Under current rule, they do not issue new OCI card when new passport is received but under old rule, his card was reissued...

any help appreciated.

The answer is no. Renewal is not surrender or cancellation.

Thanks, at the of 5, when he got his second renewed card, we had to submit first card and it has cancelled stamp and returned to us. Note first and second card now has different card number.

this confused me whether this question relates to providing such information or should I say no.

So this question is more related to whether oci was renounced or surrendered or cancelled for any other reason and not renew due to new passport??? If you can confirm please and I can proceed.
