Spouse adopting husbands first name as her middle name? Please help!
Hello there!
I am currently doing research in the US on J1 status. I recently got married last month, and my wife is still in India. She has not applied for her visa yet. She is planning to get her name changed on her passport due to marriage. She wants to take my last name as her last name, but she also wants to take my first name as her middle name (due to various reasons).
For example:
Husband name: Jay Narendra Pandya
Wife name prior to marriage: Lila Kanji Dabhi
Wife name after change: Lila Jay Pandya
She is planning to apply for her J2 visa and subsequently residency in US after her name change in her passport. I am worried about issues such name-change might create in the future, including immigration and other documents. I know it is not common practice in US for wife to adopt husband's first name as her middle name.
Does anyone have any experience or information about a similar situation? We will greatly appreciate any input. Thank you for your time and effort.
