Hello,
Background Info:
I am an American Citizen (born in the USA). I have recently married my wife who is a Mexican Citizen with a tourist visa. We had our civil marriage in California.
We have now found out she is pregnant. I cannot add her to my employer based group plan because she does not have a SSN yet. She does not qualify for medicaid or Medical because she is not a US citizen/resident.
I was told by a health clinic worker that our other option is to apply to AIM (Access for Infants & Mothers).
My question is: Since we will be submitting the immigration documents (adjustment of status, etc) in the future, will using the AIM program affect our petition for permanent residence?
