  • Insurance - Pregnancy

    Hi,

My wife is a US Citizen and we plan to go to India for a year. During the period in case she gets pregnant we would want to come back to deliver the baby in the US. Are there any insurance plans we could purchase that could cover the expenses. I am currently an employee at a US Firm and have health insurance through them but that would terminate once I quit the job to go to India for a year.

    Please advise.

    Best regards,

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Insubuy for your insurance needs.

Please take a look at our expatiate plans that would work for your specific case.

Expatriate plans would allow for coverage as long as the proposed insureds are remaining outside of the United states for at least 6 months out of the year.
    Some waiting period may apply.

Please use the link listed below to review these plan options.

Would this cover costs in case we want to come back to the U.S. to deliver the baby?

        Hello,

Expatriate plans do offer maternity coverage.

I would recommend a plan called Global Medical Insurance that would have different levels of coverage that you can select from.

          Ok thanks.

I just wanted to confirm one thing. On your website you mention that there are no such plans which cover the hospitalization costs for a pregnancy (https://www.insubuy.com/-for-pregnancy-coverage/). However this plan is an exception to that?

            Hello,

The FAQ that you are referring to is applicable to visitors into the United States.

As your wife is a U.S. citizen that FAQ would not be applicable to her as she is not considered a visitor in the United States. Your families case is considerably different than that scenario. As your wife would be considered an expatriate she would be eligible for this policy.

As long as the covered individual resides out of the United States more than 6 months out of the years they are eligible for the plan.

So this plan would be the exception to that statement but not as it relates to a visitor into the United States.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions.
            Thanks & Regards
