  • information about J2 insurance

    Hello,

My husband is a post-doc in UCLA. I just arrived in U.S for one week, holding J2 visa. I am planning to buy a J2 insurance, but the J2 insurance must to meet the following requirement.

UCLA’s requirements for minimum levels of health insurance coverage are:
    • $100,000 USD per accident & illness in medical coverage
    • Deductible cannot exceed $500 per accident or illness
    • Coinsurance cannot exceed 25%
    • Medical evacuation coverage must be at least $50,000 USD
    • Repatriation coverage must be at least $25,000 USD
    • Pre-existing conditions must be a covered benefit. The waiting period for benefit coverage cannot exceed 12 months. Pre-existing conditions must also have a $100,000 per illness medical coverage. Please note: Policy’s with coverage for only “Acute onset of pre-existing conditions” do not meet this requirement.
    • Carrier must be at least A- rated or backed by the full faith and credit of the Exchange Visitor's government
Can you recommend me any insurance that met this requirements?

I would like to buy for four month. How much will it cost?

Thank you for contacting Insubuy for your insurance needs. The only way for a J2 to meet the requirements listed below is to be on a plan with the J1. Is your husband offered a plan by UCLA? Are you eligible to be added to his plan? You can also contact our office to speak with a licensed insurance agent for assistance.
    Thanks & Regards
