Hello,
I am a new J1 visitor scholar from China and I need to buy the health insurance. I think the patriot exchange program standard may be suitable for me but I have some question to solve before make the decision.
The first is that my spouse will arrive here three month later when I may have already had this insurance, how could I buy her the same insurance? Shall I buy for three months first and then buy with her for other period of our stay in US or could I buy for myself and then buy hers separately I ask because that the eligibility says that the program is design for active engaged person so I am not sure whether she needs to buy it depending on me.
Another question is whether the monthly rate for her is same to me( about for $41 per month with the maximum coverage of $50,000) (I found that J2 rate is much expensive than J1's in some other insurance plan, so I want to find out what is in yours.)
