OCI status is still underProcess after 12 weeks!

Hi,

I applied for my son's OCI in India on 24th April. The status is still showing as "underProcess" after 12 weeks. Can anybody confirm the OCI waiting period in recent days?

Also, what should we do if my son's visa gets expired while waiting for the OCI (his 5-year visa will expire in another 2 months). We are currently working in India (permanently) and both my wife and myself have got our OCIs.
