New relationship - where do I start?

Hi all,

I've been in a relationship with a divorcee who lives in NJ for a while now. She's had a green card for 18 years and could get citizenship if she wants.

We have been talking of our future and how I might move out there from the UK.

we do intend to marry. How do I go about getting a residents card? Does she have to get citizenship first?

Permanent residents can not petition for fiancees, only US citizens can do so

Permanent residents can petition for spouses, but it will take two years longer to accomplish the process than if a US citizen were to petition for a spouse
