Hi I am a German citizen but live in the UK. Now I am supposed to apply for J1 to become a visiting fellow in the US for a couple of months. After wards however my contract only continues for another 9 months so I am missing 1 year and 3 months for the 2 year home residency clause. If I want to try to waive this clause what will be the home country for the no objection rule? Germany or my permanent residency country UK where I am employed at the moment and from where I apply for the J1. And is there a chacne to find out if the waiver is possible before applying for the visa? Thanks a lot for any advice here

What is your status in the UK? If you are a permanent resident of the UK, then the country should be the UK.
What do you mean "so I am missing 1 year and 3 months"? You mean you will be in the US and then in the UK for 9 months and then you want to get an H or L work visa or immigrate to the US?
