  • Mom visiting USA with a pre-existing condition

    Hello

    Seeking your advise.

I live in Bay Area. My mother got diagnosed with 3rd stage cancer 1.5 yrs back and completed her chemo last year. Her tumor is back already and slowly growing. I would like my mother to visit me for a month in May. She would travel with my brother's family, so she will have company in the long flight. We discussed the travel with some doctors and noone can comment on how risky situation could this be. Our main concern is 'what if something extreme happens when she is here for a month'?

Couple of questions for you -
    a) Any thoughts / suggestions about my situation? Were you in a similar boat? What would you do?
    b) Any insurance that would cover in case something drastic happens while she is here?
    c) In case anything nasty happens, would I be liable for the medical expenses that gets incurred here?

    Thanks for your reply

Yes, you would be liable and there would be no insurance that would such already existing and highly expected chronic condition.

If at all possible, it would be the best not to visit at this time.
