  • Updating the payment method for I-130 and I-485

    Hi,
    I've just filled last week a concurrent filing of I-130, I-485, I-864 and I-765.
I've sent all the paperwork to Chicago USCIS and it was received last Thursday.
I filled the credit card slip to pay with it for both I-130 and I-485.
Yesterday my bank decided someone is using my credit card without my permit and canceled it immediately.
They gave me a new card but the card number is not the same.
I don't see in my bank account the payment to USCIS yet, and my bank says they cannot reactivate the card after disabling it

I've called USCIS and they told me the only option will be to wait for the payment to be rejected and send everything again.
Is there any way to prevent this mess?
If I have to wait for USCIS to reject it, will they send me the paperwork back or should I start printing that huge amount of pages again?
    Thanks for the help!

This is from the instructions for form G-1450 - "USCIS will reject your application, petition, or request for lack of payment if your
credit card is declined. USCIS will not attempt to process your credit card payment a second time."

Sorry. That sucks but it's not something that cannot be solved. I would try calling your credit card company and get the call escalated to a supervisor. Tell the supervisor you understand the card cannot be reactivated but would it be possible for that charge from pay.gov to be honored? Explain you would have to pay the $1,760 again and that you have no way of doing that. The same way they reject a payment, the same way they can honor it. You should find out how the charge reflects on a credit card statement.

    Hope you find a solution!

        Thanks,
Unfortunately my bank refuses to allow it, I'm so pissed at them since it's definitely possible from their side. Their argument is that it is not safe from their side to allow a transaction on a canceled card.
I guess I have no choice but to wait for everything to come back and send it again.
One thing for sure I'm switching to another bank this weekend.

I'm not an expert on that matter, just used some advice I've found online and in this forum and send it in the same way.
In addition my case might be different since I'm in the US on a L1 visa.

My advice is not a legal advice in any way and I'm not an expect.

Anyway this is the cover letters I sent, first the general then for each form:

More documents wont make the case move faster but its advisable to front load your applications so the IO has some insight on your case even before interview.
