F1-OPT Extension and Marriage Status

Hi I am on F1-OPT with my EAD to be expired in June,2018. I am ready to apply for my STEM Extension. My employer is also filing H1B this April 2018.I recently got married in India with a plan of applying F2-VISA for my wife. But, due to some reasons, we are not primarily looking into that method. So, I wanted to know would there be a problem if I don't state my marriage status and apply the STEM extension as 'Single' and after I get my extension in July, I apply for F2 VISA.
