I got a basic credit card from Citibank, who have my normal bank accounts. So far so good, I'm at 690

      Hi,
I wanted to do this for my wife too. When she got her ead and ssn I went on Capital one to apply for a credit card. They asked for her status in the US and at the time she didn't have one so I waited until she got her green card. Once she had her Green Card I sent it in and about 2 weeks later a Capital One MasterCard with a $2000 limit came in the mail. I had also put her on My American Express and Wells Fargo Cards as a authorized user so that helped get her name out there too. Just yesterday she received another Card , a visa Card, from our bank. So she is well on her way. Now we have to build her a history. I will use the cards for Gas and pay the Balance off in a month and let the auto payments take care of it. See how this goes. Don't lie on the application when it askes for your status, don't want to get in trouble. You have come to far to mess it up now. This is just how I did it. May be other ways to accomplish this task.
