I overstayed 8 years. I have traveled twice back home on an AP from LA to London. The first time I went into Secondary Review on my return to LAX I waited for 15 minutes for them to process and stamp my re-entry. The 2nd time was 2 weeks ago, I waited for 5 minutes then they stamped my re-entry and I was good to go.
No problems whatsoever. It is not scary at all and all the people were really nice. Dont worry about it, if you have an up to date AP you are fine. -
