  • Missed interview, never received the mail, and now stuck in limbo (Los Angeles)

    Hi everyone,

We applied for Adjustment of Status for the green card in August 2017, and had biometrics done in September 2017. We've moved to a new address since then, and filed Change of Address Notice immediately. In August 2018, we checked our status online and it said it'll mail out our interview date soon, but we never received that mail. Shortly after, a status for missing the interview was posted online.

We filed a Non-Delivery Notice after this happened, and visited the office in downtown Los Angeles in-person twice. The response they gave us was our old address when we first filed was under Los Angeles County, and the current address we moved to is now under Santa Monica. Because of this, the mail was still sent to the old address. The person we spoke in-person said he'll follow up and call us the following Monday, it's been 2 weeks and we received no calls, and he refuse to give us his contact info before we left the office.

We've been calling the number again to speak to someone about this, one person over the phone suggested us write to National Benefits Center to explain our situation to leave a paper trail. We did that. But now we do not know how to proceed from here. It's almost impossible to schedule another in-person visit from their online schedule page since it's always full. And no one can really provide actual help over the phone after being on-hold for an extensive amount of time.

We're really out of our wits here, we followed all the protocols but still somehow end up like this. Should we be considering a lawyer in a situation like this? Please any suggestion is appreciated!
