Consular Interview for previous GC holders

Hello Folks,

My parents have a consular interview and I am a bit worried because they had green cards many years ago and they just left the country without renewing them and never returned. I wonder how this might affect their interview.

Anyone had a similar experience? Any expectations how this could affect the process?
