  • International travel with EAD/AP card worries

Can anyone who has a pending AOS application currently waiting for an interview date share any international travel experiences they?ve had at the airport? Any problems? I have a couple trips to Mexico coming up and I?m nervous about re-entry into the US. The last time I used AP to re-enter was when I got it through my DACA status. Any opinions and experiences are appreciated!

The AP is what you need for reentry if you have that then there should be no problem. you will be taken to a secondary inspection but not to worry its normal i think they does it to everyone one who travels and re-enter with ap. Note that if you do not have a ap you should not leave the country but if you do it is safe.

No difference. AP is AP regardless of how you got it. The only risk you run is if CBP finds you inadmissible when you return or that your case is denied while you are out of the country. Besides that it will be just the same as when you got it.

I travelled to Peru for 3 months. When I came back (JFK), they took me to secondary inspection, put my passport on an envelope, told to wait till my name was called. 5 min later an officer called my name, stamped my passport and let me go. No question were asked. I was a bit nervous so I had with me a copy of all the Notice of Action of my AOS but didn't need them.

My husband and I went to the Bahamas May of 2018 for his b-day.. they asked for his combo card and his passport -- had us waiting for about 30 mins? and then the IO stamped his passport and listed that he's pending AOS and that was that... (we entered thru FL).
My mother and I traveled to El Salvador in Jan of 2018 with just an AP to visit an uncle due to sickness, now that was WAYYYY more stressing.. we arrived at IAH in houston, tx -- so i passed thru the IO without problems but then when it was my mom's turn, they took the AP, her passport and her to a room.. i waited 2 hours before i saw her again. After she got out, she was able to explain to me that the reason they took so long was because there was a line of people but the IO was only with her for 30 mins.. i almost passed out from the panic that they weren't going to allow her in.

I'm sure you'll be fine, wishing you the best of luck!

                  Currently in the Philippines now.
Exiting the US was so easy. They just took my husband and I?s passports, then printed
                  our boarding passes.
Will keep you guys updated once I go back home a few days from now.
