  • F1 travel and re-entry by land

I am a Canadian currently studying on F1 status in the USA. I am planning to travel by car to Montreal and re-enter the USA via a land border crossing. My relatives who I will be travelling with and I also have Nexus (trusted traveller card) and they will not want to be unduly delayed. Does anyone here have experience or know what the ordinary process is for re-entering the USA by land with an F1 visa? Will I be processed at the primary booth while in the car or will I have to go to secondary? I will have my valid I-20 and other required documents.

When I drove to Canada from NY it took maybe 5 minutes if not less to get back to the U.S. You do not even get out of the car most of the time. Depends on where exactly you are crossing the border.
