  • Italian visa insurance

Hello, The Italian embassy is making it very clear that the medical insurance (letter) must state - Please check carefully whether your medical insurance will pay directly the providers for emergency medical expenses ,emergency hospital treatments, repatriation for medical reasons or death . Is this common in all the visa letters these days? Just checking before I buy the wrong one.

You can buy Atlas International insurance, available at https://www.insubuy.com/schengen-visa-insurance/

It meets all the standard requirements of Schengen visa insurance.

You can look at the sample visa letter at https://www.insubuy.com/atlas-americ...-documents.pdf

Around 15 minutes after you buy the insurance, you can download it at https://www.insubuy.com/hccmis/visa-letter/

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

      Hmm

Well it may meet the Schengen requirements, but the sample letter does not have any text that addresses what the Italian consulate wants to see.

“the medical insurance (letter) must state - whether your medical insurance will pay directly the providers for emergency medical expenses ,emergency hospital treatments, repatriation for medical reasons or death”

(pick the English version – look at the bottom of the page)

I don’t want to buy, drive all the way the Italian consulate, only to find the insurance letter is not good enough.

      What options can you provide?

        I read it.

HEALTH INSURANCE POLICY: The present regulation provides applicants to have health insurance coverage before departing. This is necessary in case you have an accident during your stay in the Schengen Countries. Please check carefully whether your medical insurance will pay directly the providers for emergency medical expenses ,emergency hospital treatments, repatriation for medical reasons or death . Generally all major US medical insurance companies reimburse the costs for emergency medical treatment abroad but they do not pay directly the providers. In case your insurance doesn’t provide direct payments, you can ask your travel agent or you can check the Internet under: international medical insurance or international travel insurance. You may also contact your credit card company and request information on travel insurance coverage they may be offering. In order to prove you are covered you need to provide a letter from your insurance carrier confirming coverage in the Schengen countries (not only Italy) for the minimum amount provided by the law (Euro 30,000.00/$50,000.00). WE DO NOT ACCEPT INSURANCE CARDS OR INSURANCE BOOKLET INFORMATIONS.

I does not mention anywhere that such things must be mentioned in the visa letter itself.

Please correct me if I have missed something.

          Ok

Well the question is - I if buy via your service – and this is not in the visa letter - how do I prove to the Italian consulate that I have met this requirement?

Do I recv the full policy online (or in a few days) – where it states this clearly in writing?

As I told you before, that is not the requirement, neither it needs to be stated in visa letter or anywhere else.

They are just asking you to be careful. It seems like an advice, and it does not make it the requirement to be mentioned the visa letter.

We have been selling Schengen visa insurance ever since the requirement started, and numerous people download our visa letter from the visa web site everday , including for Italian Consulate.
