How strongly do recommendation sheets affect admission? My friend may have acted as a blogger to them, he essentially gathered a whole collection, moreover, from work, studies, various politicians and the like. How it works?

I think it depends on what program you are applying to, if you are trying to do academic research it would be very important to have someone who can speak towards your academic record compared to whether you are capable of doing the job of being an ETA. The recommenders are also speaking to your ability do things like to adapt to a new environment and be a cultural ambassador, so it isn’t all about academics, but I think it is still important for a lot of grants.
