  • F-1 Students to pay tax on 1099 MISC

    Hello members,

I received one W2 form- income $3,000 (Jan-March 2017) and another 1099 MISC form-income almost $9,500 (rest of the year 2017). How much tax rate should I pay for the 1099 MISC?
I understand that F1 students are exempt from Social Security & Medicare taxes. For W2, I can submit form 843-"Claim for Refund and Request for Abatement".
For 1099 MISC, I have a question: How to make this adjustment? The problem is 15% standard tax rate will be automatically applied on 1099 MISC when I input the amount on ProSeries software.
I have searched around but have not got the relevant information. Please give me some feedbacks, I truly appreciate your suggestions. Thanks!
