How safe it is to go to India when on OPT??

Hi ,

I am currently on OPT and I have a valid F1 visa till Feb 2012
I am working in a highly reputed company since June 2008.

I am planning for a short vacation in India.
I like to know what are the risks involved in travelling to India on OPT.
What are the documents I need to take before I leave US?

I am asking this since on my OPT card, its written “Not valid for re-entry to US”.

There is one more issue. The name on my EAD does not match with the name on my VISA/I-94.
I have a visa with name “FNU SIDDHARTH GUPTA”, while on EAD, I have my name as “GUPTA,SIDDHARTH”.
Will this be a major problem when I will re-enter in US?

I will be very glad if someone can give me a guidance in this regard.

If you have a job, no issues. Read other similar posts on the forum that were posted very recently.

The ISO from your school will also help you understand the process.

The name isn't an issue. Once you return, go back to the Indian consulate and they will make you fill out a miscellaneous services form and note an observation on your passport saying your FN is XYZ and LN is PQR.
