Grace period almost over - OPT application still pending

Hello,

I have applied for OPT on May 7, 2019, which is before graduation (June 15, 2019) and now I am on the grace period that should end on August 14-15. According to plan, they should send around the first week of August. They received the case and everything. However I heard that some people got their case pending for till 5 months. So my question is: If my case is still pending, but my grace period has ended, am I still eligible to stay here legally or do I need to leave soon?

As long as you applied for OPT before the end of your grace period, you remain in status while the application is pending.
