Do i need a UK transit visa while going for H1 B stamping?

Hi ,

I am traveling to India from US for H1 B stamping this month and am planning to book British Airways . Do I need a transit visa for transiting via Heathrow , London ?

I have a valid F-1 Visa expiring in 2017 and i have an approved H1 B(I 797)

There are a lot of mixed reviews online hence the confusion

I think you only need visa if you would be entering the country. In your case, you would be booking British Airways ticket....it just has layover in London. You wouldn't be visiting UK. You would need visa if you'll be staying in UK for tourism or any other purposes.
