Travelling on last day of visa

I'm travelling on my last day of My Visa and I-94 to India Mumbai with break in London will it be a problem. It is being told that transit visa required for travel via UK unless a valid visa is stampped on the passport..

It is a very risky thing to do. In the event of a flight delay or cancellation, you will not be allowed to enter US or board the flight in London.

You may not need the transit visa but this is not a very safe thing to do.

I'm Travelling out from US to Mumbai

Same issue with transit visa then. If flight gets delayed or you get bumped, you will not get a boarding pass without a visa.
