  • B1 Visa Rejected Twice in 3 Years gap - Delhi Consulate

Hi, I went for my b1 visa interview today after a gap of 3 years. My first B1 rejection happened in 2012. Today again, the same story repeated. I work in a senior position with a Big 4 consulting company. I have travelled to more than 10 countries except US. I am not sure why the rejections are happening as also I got married recently which may establish my strong willingness to come back. There doesn't seem to be a pattern at all. My interview went smooth without any issues and then the lady saw the screen and said unfortunately they cannot process my visa at this point.

    All she asked was,
Interview (I) - Why would you want to go to US
Me (M) - For business meetings and knowledge transfer sessions as I am meeting my client Microsoft in US
I - Where do you wanna go?
    M - New York
I - Does your company have office there?
M - Yes in New York
    I - Are you married?
    M - Yes
I - What does your wife do?
M - She is into media
I - What do you do?
M - I am an IT consultant in senior position with such company
I - You are going to Washington this time and not Cupertino?
M - Yes, Cupertino was my previous company's HQ
    I - I am sorry bla bla

I am planning to reapply again tomorrow. Can anybody provide any insight?

    Thanks

I guess you were rejected due to inconsistency found after having given two different answers under the following questions.

Q1: Where do you wanna go? (You answered "NEW YORK")

Q2: You are going to Washington this time and not Cupertino? (You answered "YES" again for Washington)

This was a tricky question, If you have already declared earlier that are going to New York ONLY, then you should NOT have answered "YES" to this question again.

I answered yes to her question that I am going to Washington and not Cupertino as it was my previous company's HQ and this is my current company's HQ. I did not write the elaborate answer here but nevertheless thanks for your inputs.

Your response to Red wine does not make sense to me.

Were you planning on going to Redmond or New York or both?

If both, why didn't you say so the first time the CO asked?
